Perennial Purple Tree Collards are a perennial vegetable related to collard greens. They are SO delicious, very easy to grow, frost tolerant (they actually love a little crisp in the air) and, if staked, will grow 6 to 8 feet tall!
Purple Tree Collards are incredibly nutritious and provide easy healthy greens for you and your family - all year long, year after year.
Our collard cuttings are rooted in organic potting soul for about 6-8 weeks before being offered for sale. They are ready to pot up or plant out in your garden! We have a limited supply so get your plants soon!
A few facts about Perennial Purple Tree Collards:
*They can survive, and even thrive, in temperatures to about 20 degrees Fahrenheit
*In colder regions, they will grow as an annual
*In warmer regions, they grow continuously throughout the year
*Each plant can live 5-6 years, or longer! (Our plants are 7 years old)
*We find Purple Tree Collards are most productive during fall - spring in our milder Zone 9 climate. They provide a continuous source of healthy greens for our family throughout the winter.

*Easy to propagate, easy to grow!
Eating Perennial Purple Tree Collards
Perennial Purple Tree Collard leaves are delicious and densely nutritious.
*Sautee them as you would any green
*Toss a handful in your roasted veggies, soups, or stir-fry
*Blend raw into your smoothies
*Dehydrate leaves and make Collard Chips (don't forget to add your favorite umami seasoning!).
*Ferment leaves into kraut

Please be mindful of the weather in your area when ordering as they may sit in your mailbox for several hours. We can not be responsible for plants that suffer damage in hot or cold mailboxes. We provide tracking with every order so you know when to expect your cuttings! If your cuttings arrived damaged or fails to thrive please contact us immediately.

Live Plants are shipped to the domestic US only.
- Live plants ship on Mondays and Tuesdays via USPS Priority Mail. This ensures your plant will arrive safely and reduce exposure to extreme temperatures. Orders for live plants placed after 11pm Sunday may not ship until the following week. Please note shipping estimates before you place your order.
Before You Order Live Plants
- Check your weather - we recommend that you do not order during extended cold or hot weather. We can not be responsible for plants that are damaged due to weather.
- You are responsible for following your state laws re: the shipment of live plants. Please make sure it is legal to accept plants via USPS in your location.
Your satisfaction is our highest priority. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Shipping Rates
Our preferred carrier is USPS Priority Mail for live plants.
The rate charged for the shipping of your order is based on the weight of the products ordered and your location. Before the final checkout, you will be shown what the cost of shipping will be.

Happy Plant Guarantee: We promise your plant will ship healthy, happy, and ready to thrive. Sometimes, plants get damaged during shipping. If your plant arrives dead or damaged, we'll replace it as long as you let us know right away, and the damage is not related to extreme temperatures in your region. If your specific plant is out of stock, we'll offer a replacement or a refund.
If your plant arrives damaged:
- Snap a photo of the plant and box.
- Email us at leslie@leehouse.co with the photo within 3 days.
Plant Not Delivered?
- Check your order tracking. All plants are shipped Priority Mail and should arrive within 3-4 business days. We only ship plants on Mondays and Tuesdays.
- If overdue by 5 days, contact us at leslie@leehouse.co. Note: We can not provide a refund or credit for incorrect delivery info at checkout.
Refunds?
- We prefer to replace, but we'll consider refunds individually. Let us know the specifics in your email.
Returns?
- We can't accept returns of plants. We're happy to offer suggestions on how to revive a sad plant, or we recommend you compost your plant if it's too far gone.
