Plantain is a wonderful plant with numerous indications and culinary uses. It's also an excellent plant for any regenerative sustainable garden.

This listing is for one Broadleaf Plantain seedling in a 4 in pot. The plant was wild sown, seeds came from our mother plants, and are non-gmo, organic, and chemical free.

*Your plantain seedling will arrive in a 4in pot. We recommend allowing your plant to acclimate from its journey to you. Give it a few days to a week before transplanting.

Growing Facts:

Soil pH: Slightly acidic to neutral soil pH range of 6.0-7.0.
Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade. It can tolerate both direct sunlight and light shade.
Frost Tolerance: Fairly tolerant of light frost and can withstand cooler temperatures.
Soil Requirements: Adapts to a wide range of soil conditions, including clay, loam, and sandy soils. It prefers well-draining soil but can tolerate some moisture.
Spacing: When planting Broadleaf Plantain, space the plants about 6-12 inches apart to allow room for growth and airflow.
Mature height: Broadleaf Plantain typically grows to a height of 6-12 inches, although it can reach up to 18 inches under ideal conditions.

*We ship on Mondays via Priority Mail to mitigate exposure to heat or cold that could damage your plant. Orders for live plants placed after 11pm Sunday may not ship until the following week. Please note shipping estimates before you place your order. If there is a forecast of extreme weather between our location in California and yours, we may delay shipping in order to keep the plants alive!
*Make sure you will be home and able to collect your plant the day it arrives.
*We are not responsible for plants left outside or in a hot mailbox.
*If your live plant arrives damaged, please send a photo and a description of the damage within 3 days via the "Send seller a message" feature in your order history.

Growing Guide

Shipping

Live Plants are shipped to the domestic US only.

  • Live plant orders ship on Mondays via USPS Priority Mail. This ensures your plant will not sit in a hot truck or warehouse over the weekend. Orders for live plants placed after 11pm Sunday may not ship until the following week. Please note shipping estimates before you place your order. 

Before You Order Live Plants

  • Check your weather - we recommend that you do not order during extended cold or hot weather. We can not be responsible for plants that are damaged due to weather.
  • You are responsible for following your state laws re: the shipment of live plants. Please make sure it is legal to accept plants via USPS in your location.

Your satisfaction is our highest priority. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Carriers

We use the following carriers to deliver our orders:

  • USPS - our preferred carrier. Most orders are shipped USPS
  • UPS
  • DHL

Order Tracking

When a tracking # is provided by the shipping carrier, we will update your order with the tracking information. Please note that some orders using 1st Class USPS mail will not have tracking numbers.

Shipping Rates

Our preferred carrier is USPS Priority Mail for live plants.

The rate charged for the shipping of your order is based on the weight of the products ordered and your location. Before the final checkout, you will be shown what the cost of shipping will be, and you will have a chance to not place your order if you decide not to.

Back Orders

If an item goes on back order we will let you know immediately. We generally will ship the part of your order that is in stock. When the item becomes available we will ship you the rest of your order. You will not be charged any additional shipping and handling for the second shipment.

Happy Plant Guarantee: We promise your plant will arrive healthy, happy, and ready to thrive. Sometimes, plants get damaged during shipping. If your plant arrives dead or damaged, we'll replace it as long as you let us know right away. If your specific plant is out of stock, we'll offer a replacement or a refund.

If your plant arrives damaged: 

  1. Snap a photo of the plant and box.
  2. Email us at leslie@leehouse.co with the photo within 5 days.

Plant Not Delivered?

  • Check your order tracking. All plants are shipped Priority Mail and should arrive within 3-4 business days. We only ship plants on  Mondays and Tuesdays.
  • If overdue by 5 days, contact us at leslie@leehouse.co. Note: We can not provide a refund or credit for incorrect delivery info at checkout.

Refunds?

  • We prefer to replace, but we'll consider refunds individually. Let us know the specific in your email.

Returns?

  • We can't accept returns of plants. We're happy to offer suggestions on how to revive a sad plant, or we recommend you compost your plant if it's too far gone.
