Essence. It's a strange word. It's one of those artisan type words like terroir. I would say most people do not really understand it, but they go with it. As a young sci-fi nerd, I was taught that your essence was a somewhat scary and pretty serious thing. It was your life-force man! I once believed that a cat could draw it from you in your sleep, like in Stephen King's Cat's Eye.

Seemed a little wild but that concept just kept repeating itself in other movies too, like The Dark Crystal. Who wasn't scared as hell when that poor little gelfling got sucked dry of it's essence? Downright disturbing stuff for a young lad.
Ozzy Osbourne once mumbled that science fiction of the past is science fact of the future. I think the prince of darkness is on to something with that...
Oxford Languages clarifies that an Essence is: "the intrinsic nature or indispensable quality of something, especially something abstract, that determines its character."
I 100% agree with that too and I am pretty excited about our whole new line of intrinsic plant essences that Leslie started curating over a year ago
and that are now finally ready!
